Nagaland is going through a spate of violence which has already resulted in two deaths in police firing and extensive damage to public and private property. The violence is the sequel to the movement against reservation of 33 per cent seats for women in Urban Local Bodies (ULB), that is, 32 municipalities and town committees across the state. Elections to these bodies have not been held for over a decade.
