Mizoram excise and narcotics department seized 71 grams of heroin here, a department spokesperson today said. The contraband, worth around Rs 3.55 lakh in the local market, was seized on Wednesday night. It was reportedly smuggled from Myanmar, he said.

A major fire broke out this morning at a thermocol factory in Andul area here, officials said. The fire was noticed at 10.45 am following which 20 fire tenders rushed to the spot, Fire brigade officials said. Efforts are still on to douse the flames, they said.

At least two students were killed and ten were injured after a truck hit their auto-rickshaw on the Northern Highway 60 in the West Midnapore district of West Bengal. The accident took place near Bhadutala of Salboni Police station.
