The sacking of Noor-ur-Rehman Barkati, Shahi Imam of the Tipu Sultan Masjid of Kolkata by the Trustees of the Masjid has not come a day too soon. The peremptory sack order was served on him on Wednesday. It gave him seven days to vacate the Masjid or else face eviction by the police.
