It is difficult to say whether the 148-day Narmada Sewa Yatra will spiritually help Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan or not, but it can be stated that it has in immense measure politically helped him. The liberal manner in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi showered praise on Chouhan will help a long way to boost his image. Modi came to Amarkantak, from where Narmada originates, to participate in the conclusion ceremony of the yatra. The presence of over five lakh people under scorching sun must have impressed Modi.

The general elections are still a good couple of years away. But the battle lines for it are already being drawn up in right earnest.
