500 dengue cases, malaria 385, chikungunya 283

Over 130 fresh cases of dengue have been reported during the last week in Delhi, taking the total number of people affected by the vector-borne disease this season to nearly 500, according to a municipal report released today. The number of people affected by malaria this year till August 12, has climbed to 385 while the figure for chikungunya stands at 283.

Flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh continued to remain grim as surface communication has been disrupted in various parts of the state.


A 35-year-old man was found dead in front of a toilet near Malda Town railway station today, police said. The man had come to Malda from Kerala on Sunday and got stranded due to rail disruption as a result of flooded tracks in North Bengal, a police officer said.


A large number of explosive materials were seized from Kakwa Naorem Leikai locality here, police said today. The explosives were seized on Sunday evening as those were gathered to disrupt of the Independence Day celebrations, SP Imphal West Themting Ngashangva said.


To clear stranded passengers, South Eastern Railway (SER) will run a special train (02510) from Howrah to Bengaluru Cantonment.  This Special Train leaving Howrah at 1.05 am on Wednesday, August 16 will run in the path, stoppages and timings of 12510 Guwahati - Bengal


For the comfort of passengers, Eastern Railway has planned to provide more 12-car EMU rakes in place of 10-car EMU rakes. As a part of this, 18 more 12-car EMU services will be provided in Sealdah (South) section with effect from August 15.
