Passengers on a private transport jeep escaped uninjured when their vehicle caught fire at Baratang on Sunday. The incident occurred at around 8.45 am when the jeep reportedly carrying passengers and fuel engulfed into flames after a short-circuit in the vehicle’s electrical system.

The Supreme Court made history when in a landmark 3-2 verdict, it 'set aside' the centuries-old practice of instant triple talaq  in which Muslim men divorce their wives by uttering 'talaq, talaq, talaq' in quick succession. The apex court thus ended a source of injustice that put certain sections of Sunni Muslim women at great disadvantage.

Sunday’s ‘reshuffle’ of the Union Cabinet makes two things clear. First, the Government is becoming more BJP than NDA. If the BJP is able to increase its tally further in the 2019 general elections, the Union Government may become a wholly BJP Government. The present NDA allies may find themselves left high and dry. The second is that in reshuffling his Cabinet, Narendra Modi’s emphasis was on selecting competent men who can deliver rather than on their Hindutva credentials.
