Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s latest charge against BJP president Amit Shah that his business entrepreneur son Jay Shah struck it rich after BJP came to power in 2014, alleging a high-level corruption, only exposes his political naivete, if not a deliberately mischievous intent. According to the Congress, Jay Shah’s sudden rise is an "excellent example" of crony capitalism.

The data-driven slugfest over the performance of the Modi government in the first three years between its loyalists, led by Narendra Modi himself, and detractors, both in the ruling party and Opposition, saw an important piece of statistics that should have pricked India’s collective conscience pass off as a non-event, except for some noise created in the social media.

Tourism industry is a good foreign exchange earner for India. The Centre is trying to promote tourism and make tourist places more attractive and staying facilities at tourist spots more comfortable. What discourages foreign tourists from visiting India is the incidents of violence committed on them – from defrauding to harassing to rape and even murder.  Last Sunday’s incident at Agra where a Swiss couple was badly beaten up and one suffered a fracture in the skull stands in a different category.

Four persons died after consuming spurious liquor in Rohtas district of Bihar following which eight police officials have been placed under suspension, a top police official said.
The Nitish Kumar government had imposed a complete ban on sale and consumption of alcohol in Bihar in April last year.
