A dead body of a person was found under a culvert  at Panighat, Mayabunder in North Andaman on Friday. Sources say that the person was an employee of the Department of Agriculture, Nirdosh Kerketta, 50, resident of Lucknow village.

India’s IT power has evolved into its current pre-eminence because the government, meaning bureaucracy, could not do anything to stop it despite their best efforts. The government and the bureaucracy had virtually no clue as to what was happening. Otherwise they would have stalled it through various means, including labour-related and administrative issues. By the time they realised the reality, technology had grown beyond them, although they have not given up the bid to overwhelm it through regulations.

The Election Commission has created a furore among political parties by recommending to the Supreme Court to debar corrupt politicians for life from contesting parliamentary or State assembly polls. The EC has suggested setting up of special courts for trying corrupt politicians. The apex court has reacted favourably to the suggestion and asked the Centre to set up designated courts for this purpose and set a deadline of one year for completing trial. The Centre, however, has not responded enthusiastically.
