An improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered by police from a village in Imphal West district today. The local people found the IED at a spot near Konthoujam and Lainam village under Patsoi Police Station in district, a police officer said.

In a dramatic development, the Supreme Court refused to adjourn the case relating to the decades old dispute over the land of the Babri Masjid site till July, 2019, once the election is over. Senior Counsels, including Mr. Kapil Sibal, Mr. Rajeev Dhawan and Mr. Dushyant Dave, appearing for Sunni Waqf Board and other parties submitted to the Court that there was no urgency to hear the matter, and the counsels needed more time to prepare, since the documents and depositions in the title suit were not complete.

The Gujarat State Assembly elections are a dress rehearsal for the far bigger, fiercer and no-holds-barred poll war that the country is going to witness in 2019 when the Lok Sabha elections are held. What is beyond doubt is that this is for the first time that the BJP which has ruled Gujarat for the last 22 years is looks and not sure of itself.
