In the recently held by-election to fill up the casual vacancies to Ward Member of Rangat-13 constituency of Rangat Gram Pancahayt, Mr. S Seal Kumar of the Indian National Congress defeated the BJP candidate Smt P Kalai Selvi to win the bye election. The total votes polled was 53 and the INC candidate got 32 votes while the BJP candidate got 20 votes.

Another huge King Cobra was rescued from the house of one Shyam Bairagi house at Kadamtala recently. According to reports, the terrified house owner raised an alarm after spotting the venomous 9 ft long reptile at around 7.30 am and one Subrato Basu rushed to his help. With bare hands, the King Cobra was rescued and later released into protected surroundings.
