Tea Garden worker dead, manager critically injured

A tea garden female worker died on the spot and manager critically injured when a speeding private bus lost control in a hurry to catch passengers on Thursday morning along national highway 31 C near Sanyashisthan Tea Estate in Bagdogra.
The bus coming from Panitanki towards Siliguri first smashed manager’s private vehicle and then rammed the quarters of tea workers.
Mukni Oraon (45) a permanent worker of Sanyasisthan tea garden was run over when she was entering inside kitchen carrying drinking water. While her husband Rinji Oraon who was preparing breakfast sustained minor injuries. 
The manager who was entering the highway on his vehicles was thrown away several feet away when the high speed but smashed it.
Ramchandra Choudhery the manager of the garden is admitted at a private nursing home in Siliguri in critical condition. Several other passengers who were travelling also sustained injuries, soon after the accident the bus driver and his helper manage to escape from the site.
Hundreds of tea workers and local youth then blocked the highway, burnt tyres with keeping dead body at the accident site. They did not allow the police to carry the dead body until their demands were fulfilled.
After six hours of blockade agitators were convinced by officer-in-charge of Bagdogra police station that a barricade will be put up and two police personals will be deployed in the area.
