Appalling condition of a Bus Stand in Bakultala constructed by Bakultala Panchayat bears testimony to the indifference of government agencies towards proper upkeep of public facilities. Cleanliness and repairs of the decrepit structure has remained far from ensured for the past several months forcing commuters to stand outside under the scorching sun waiting for their scheduled journey to different parts in the region.
The Bus Stand near the Health Centre is all about garbage, dirt and stench greeting hundreds of commuters on a daily basis. The bus stand has become home to ant-social elements, who use it for boozing, gambling etc during evening hours.
“The condition of the Bus Stand here has become a source of constant discomfort for hundreds of passengers. Travelers are forced to bear the unhygienic conditions for hours before boarding the bus. The entire Bus Stand remains littered with all sorts of garbage and the stench emanating from the Stand makes the wait even more upsetting. The ensuing rainy season will worsen the situation. Further, the Bus Stand is likely to collapse any time owing to lack of repairs and maintenance for the past several years. The concerned authorities in the district administration should immediately intervene and direct immediate revamp of public facility. Either the concerned Panchayat or the Lions Club of Rangat should be entrusted the responsibility for maintaining cleanliness of the Bus Stand in the interest of commuters,” said some Parnashala villagers.
