Dairy management trng at Harinagar by KVK

ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (CIARI), North and Middle Andaman in association with UTATMA, Agriculture Department organised a 2 day training programme on ‘Dairy Management’ from Dec 15 at Panchayat Hall, Harinagar. The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Uttam Mondal, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Harinagar; PRI-members, Dr. R. K. Singh, SVO, Swadeshnagar, Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, N & M Andaman, CIARI. Mr. Mondal appreciated the work of KVK and urged the participants to come forward for dairy farming. Dr. Kasinath, highlighted the importance and scope of dairy farming in the isles. Dr. Singh described the need and method for handling and identification of dairy animals. Dr. Shardul Vikram Lal, SMS (Animal Science/ Course Coordinator) discussed on the issues related to care and management of dairy cattle. The experts from KVK delivered lectures on different aspects of dairy management. Er. Manoj Kumar discussed on the issues related to housing management. Mr. D. Basantia described the method for preparation of low cost feed from local available resources. In the valedictory session, Mr. Mondal; Dr. Manmohan Roy, SVO, Mayabunder, AH & VS; Mr. R. Thangadum, Branch Manager, A & N State Co. Bank, Billiground, Dr. Parag, SVO, Basantipur, AH & VS were present. Mr. Thangadum informed the farmers regarding banking facilities in dairy farming. Dr. Manmohan Roy explained about the schemes of AH and VS Department. Dr. Parag described the methods for control and management of diseases in dairy cattle. In addition to this, calcium supplement were also distributed to all the participants. A total of 20 persons including 19 males and 1 female were benefitted from the programme. The programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, N & M Andaman and Dr. A. Kundu, Director, CIARI.
