4 month old Shompen child referred to GBPH

A four month old child from the Shompen tribe in Great Nicobar has been referred to GB Pant Hospital for expert medical care. As per sources, the baby was brought to the Shompen Sarai from where the AAJVS workers sent her to the Primary Health Centre of Campbell Bay on Sunday. Doctors at the Health Centre diagnosed her with acute sepsis and the baby was suffering from respiratory disorders.  After preliminary examination, the Primary Health Centre referred the Shompen Child to the Sick New Born Care Unit of GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair for treatment. As per reports, the new born child along with an attendant was shifted to Port Blair by a defence aircraft on Monday.
