DC Nicobar visits Campbell Bay

The Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar, Mr. Awanish Kumar  and Assistant Commissioner of Car Nicobar visited here on Saturday to take stock of issues in the region. Immediately after arrival, the team visited different parts of the Great Nicobar Island and held interactions with general public, PRI members and members of the Tribal Council. Major among other issues raised during the meeting include shortage of passenger and cargo boat services between Campbell Bay and Port Blair, erratic telecom services, shortage of STS buses, demand for a SBI bank branch, allotment of tsunami shelters for  left-out beneficiaries and infrastructure requirement in government schools. The Deputy Commissioner assured the gathering to take up the issues with the concerned authorities in the administration for timely redressal.
