Largest ever haul of spurious liquor from Campbell Bay

The District Police of  Nicobar has registered its largest ever haul of spurious liquor from Campbell Bay in the southern group of islands on Monday. On a tip-off, the police led by Station House Officer, Campbell Bay, SK Sarkar, mounted surveillance on the accused for two days and seized around 150 liters of illicit liquor from the possession of one Ramnath Roy, 46, resident of Old Machi Basti here. Investigations revealed that the accused operated a distillery at a remote location and used to transport the spurious liquor using boats. Police are further investigating the matter.
The Campbell Bay Police also recovered 21 kilos of illicit handia from the possession of accused identified as Mohini Devi, 60, resident of Babu Lane, Dilamma, 60, resident of Kamal Basti, Mani Meghlai, 40, resident of Kamal Basti and Kalidas, 65, resident of Joginder Nagar here, according to reports.
A police team of PS Car Nicobar recovered 12 litres of illicit liquor from the possession of one Jawa Clayton, 31, resident of Small Lapathy and Topetngen, 52, resident of  Kinyuka village on Sunday. The general public have been requested to pass on any credible information pertaining to illegal manufacture/transportation/sale of liquor or any other illegal activities on telephone numbers 265242, 265210 & 100. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
