Varied events by SW to celebrate Intnl. Women’s Day at C/Bay

As part of observance of International Women’s Day, the Directorate of Social Welfare is organizing a series of events at Great Nicobar region. On Monday, the Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Baby Fareeda and Assistant Commissioner of Campbell Bay, Mr Ranjeet Kumar Singh, flagged off a cycle rally for women at Zero Point here. The rally passed through different parts in the region before culminating at Mini Stadium. Shouting slogans, participants of the rally sensitized people on women’s rights, need for gender parity etc.
A sport competition for women was also organized at Mini Stadium, which was declared open by Pramukh of Campbell Bay, Smt Manjula Lakra. The Pradhan of Govind Nagar, Smt Rosaliya Kullu declared the meet closed. On March 6, a recipe competition will be organized in the community hall of Campbell Bay from 2 pm which will be judged by the Assistant Director (Soil), Smt Sherly Thomas, Mr Surender, Health Educator and Smt Felcie, LHV, PHC, Campbell Bay. A Rangoli contest will also be organized at the same venue from 3 pm which will be judged by Ms Preeti, Assistant Commandant, Coast Guard, Campbell Bay, Smt Hemali Kushwaha, Principal, CGPS, Campbell Bay and Dr Lalitha, GSSS Campbell Bay.
The Medical Officer of PHC Campbell Bay, Dr Helan will inaugurate a Sales-cum-Exhibition of handicrafts & other handicrafts and Food Stall Mela at Community Hall, Campbell Bay at 3 pm on March 7, 2018. The Principal, CGPS, Campbell Bay, Smt Hemali Kushwaha will be the guest of honour on the occasion. Women from different fields will be felicitated for their contribution to the society at the main function to be held on March 8, 2018 at 10 am. The Principal, GSSS Campbell Bay, Smt Lata Singh will be the chief guest, while Smt Shobha, Vice Principal, GSSS Gandhi Nagar will be the guest of honor on the occasion. The Station House Officer of PS Campbell Bay will hold a session on violence against women at workplace on the occasion. A folk dance competition will also be organised.
