Member traction, railway board visits CLW

Shri Ghanshyam Singh, member traction, railway board and ex-officio secretary to Govt. of India visited Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) on 13th December, 2017. Shri Ghanshyam Singh had a meeting with senior officers of CLW to review the production of electric locomotives in CLW. V. P. Pathak, general manager of CLW, A.K. Singhal,  principal chief electric engineer shri Rajnish  Arora, principal chief mechanical engineer, Ashok Kumar, chief vigilance officer Ravij Seth, principal financial advisor, G. Srinivasa Rao, principal chief personnel officer, D.C.Choudhury, principal chief engineer  & other officers  were present during this meeting held in administrative office conference room. He had discussion with the members of CLW staff council and members submitted their representations.
Later, he inspected a WAG-9H locomotive (loco no 32101) on which various innovative technical developments had been incorporated. This loco is equipped with advanced features for crew monitoring, better operation, safety and comfort of crew. Some of the features are like, Indigenous distributed power wireless control system for multiple operation using wireless technology for hauling longer and heavier freight train load. For improving the driver’s skill and investigation tool for risk mitigation, Crew voice and Video recording system has been introduced. Electrical signal exchange system from loco cab to exchange signals with the Station and train passing staff without the visual hand gestures from inside the cab have also been commissioned on the loco. Water closet system is a significant advancement towards Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. In his brief address, he appreciated the various efforts of CLW towards the production of latest technology electric locomotives and also the innovation & developments made by CLW and wished a bright and prosperous future.
