Principal of an industrial training institute (ITI) at Tufanganj area was found drinking and playing cards with his subordinates at his office. The students caught him red-handed drinking at office and gheraoed him for long. They also drew attention of the higher authority and demanded an exemplary punishment of the principal.
It has been alleged by the students that William Soren, principal of Tufanganj ITI did not issue forms for admission into a technical course to two students. Soren allegedly kept those students in waiting for a long time. When they knocked the chamber of the principal and entered, Soren was found drinking with his assistant. The duo was allegedly playing cards too.
The two students alleged that the principal denied them the forms and asked them to come later.
The students informed Sajjad Hossain and Suraj Sarkar, joint secretaries of Tufanganj College who rushed to the ITI. They too found the principal drinking and playing cards.
“We have found pile of fried fish, bottles of alcohol and cards kept on the table. The students were taken aback initially. Later, they started agitating and gheraoed the principal,” Sarkar said.
They further alleged that the principal was not even repentant for his conduct.
“We are demanding the interference of the competent authority and his removal from the post,” Sarkar said. (EOIC)
