NBDD minister inaugurates multiple projects in Cooch Behar

The North Bengal Development Department Minister Gautam Deb today inaugurated a number of projects in Cooch Behar and also announced additional projects for the district.

Deb this afternoon inaugurated the newly constructed bride over River Gadadhar at Natabari area in Toofanganj.  The minister said locals had for long demanded for a bride over the river and the government was successful in delivering it. The state government spent Rs 6 crore for constructing the bridge, he informed.

Moreover, Deb said the NBDD is contemplating to build a new bridge over River Kaljani in the sub-division in future.

He further informed the government has also completed the reconstruction of the Cooch Behar Bhawan with an investment worth Rs 35 lakhs located near North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri. The building is to provide housing to the visitors from Cooch Behar, added the minister.

Later he conducted a high priority meeting at the district magistrate’s office which was attended by the Forest Minister Binay Krishna Barman, Parishad secretary Rabindranath Ghosh, district magistrate Mohan Gandhi, MLA Hiten Barman and Zilla Parishad chairperson Puspita Roy Dakua.

Deb after the meeting visited Harin Chowra area in Cooch Behar and laid the foundation stone for the construction work of the new building for the engineering college.
