Kolkata academy holds sit & draw competition in schools in Darjeeling

To encourage students, Shishu Kishore Academy, Kolkata on Sunday organized a sit and draw competition with participation of 20 schools from Darjeeling.
The sit and draw competition which is organized in association with the information and cultural affairs department, Darjeeling, is an annual programme.
Students of government and some private schools participated in the day’s competition that was organized in the premises of the Nripendra Narayan Bengali Hindu Hall (NNBHH).
The competition was categorized in two groups, consisting boys and girls. In the first group students aged between 5 to 10 years participated on the topic “Our Country”, while in the second group students aged between 10 to 16 years had the theme “Unity in Diversity”.
Amos Thapa of Bloomfield High school stood first in the first group, while Siddhant Chhetri ofSt. Robert’s High School came second and Adarsh Sangdyan also of St.Robert’s was third.
In the second group, Jason Lepcha of St. Robert’s High School came first, Nikhil Mizar of Siksha Sangh High School was second and Kalpit Gurung of St. Robert’s High School was judged in third position.
The winners received story books and certificates of participation from district information and cultural officer Jagdish Chandra Roy, veteran journalist Sanjay Biswas and Mahendra Thami, a noted painter of the town. Thami was also the judge for the event.
Other participants were awarded their certificates by the teachers present for the programme
Next week the Sishu Kishore Academy will also organize a song, dance and recitation competition in Darjeeling. (EOIC)
