Adhyaksha N&M meets Little Butterflies

Children from various villages of North Andaman met Adhyaksha N & M Andaman, recently at Subashgram Panchayat Hall, Diglipur with the objective of building a protective and child friendly environment in villages. Earlier, children facilitated children’s Council (Bal Sabha) in 6 villages of North Andaman to discuss issues on villages and schools as the part of preparing a child plan. Children approached officials/ PRI members in different panchayats to resolve the issues along with memorandums. The major issues discussed with Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha were need for music and computer teachers in schools, shortage of school buses, illegal sales of alcohol in Durgapur village, repair of Anganwadi buildings, poor network connectivity, need for children’s parks etc.
Ms. Kalpana Bain, Adhyaksha, NMZA assured that she will take necessary actions to resolve the issues raised by children. Mr. Sino P. Kurian, programme manager, Butterflies and Ms. Alpana Mondal, Pradhan, Subhash Gram Panchayat were also present at the meet. The children plan to meet Lieutenant Governor of A & N Islands to ensure a child friendly environment in the islands. Mr. Prasanna Rao, field coordinator welcomed the gathering and briefed the procedures children followed in preparing a child-led plan.
