Workshop on ‘Safety in Steel Making’ held at DSP

A two-day workshop on ‘Safety in Steel Making’ involving major steel producers of the country was organized by Durgapur Steel Plant today. Around 50 delegates from 17 organizations like all SAIL units, TATA Steel, JSW, Essar, RINL, MECON, Prime Metals among others took part in the workshop. While inaugurating the workshop, A K Rath, CEO, DSP said, “Safety is one of the key management responsibilities. Continuous learning from mistakes and ensuring safety by implementing and following safe practices are on-going processes. The workshop will help the organizations to learn from each other about the recent developments in safe practices and processes in steel making”. 
Safety is the prime focus area in Durgapur Steel Plant. Throughout the year, the plant undertakes several activities to create safety awareness among all stakeholders. It makes attempts to propagate and inculcate ‘Safety as a way of life’ among the employees and contractors’ workers. As a measure to strengthen the safety systems associated with steel making and to improve it by learning from others, this workshop has been organized, where all the participating organizations will be sharing their experience and innovations in the field of safe steel making. The workshop will benefit all associated with steel making with regard to learning best national / global operation and maintenance practices, latest safety interventions, technological developments and safety innovations in safe steel making.
