Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has been invited to the Global Climate Action in San Francisco, California, from September 12 to September 14. The summit will bring together leaders from government, business and representatives of the civil society.
Participants would be expected to report their climate action and make new commitments. The conference is meant to prevent the worst effects of a warming planet in view of the fear of a peaking of global emissions by 2020, the invitation letter to Chamling said.
It may be mentioned that Pawan Chamling has taken the lead in environment protection in Sikkim in a number of ways, the latest among them being his efforts at organic farming.
