Chief Minister Pawan Chamling fired salvos against the central government once again for its alleged step-motherly attitude towards his state  but he said despite this Sikkim would go ahead with its development agenda. The chief minister made this comment during his interaction with media persons yesterday on the occasion of New Year at his residence at Namchi,
``We are a peaceful state, we have not given any tension to the central government still we are neglected by them. Our grants have been slashed by half. But  we have not complained,’’ Chamling rued.
Regarding assembly elections to be held early next year the chief minister said his party the  Sikkim Democratic Front was ready for election. Replying to a criticism that Sikkim Democratic Front has copied the SKM manifesto Chamling said that the Opposition did not  have good agenda. But the people have been with us for the  last 25 years. ``The people will give a befitting reply to the Opposition for the hate campaign they have unleashed,’’ the CM said.
The CM also used this occasion to wish a Happy New Year wishes to the people.
He also said that the Rojgar Mela under which the government was providing government jobs to 20, 000 unemployed youth under the scheme  'one job one family' scheme was a historic move initiated by  the government.
