Civil aviation secy orders repair of link road from school to airport

Union Civil Aviation Secretary R. N. Choubey has directed the immediate repair of the link road from St Xavier’s School to Pakyong airport He has also asked airport officials for complete cleaning and illumination of the airport and different signboards, according to an IPR release.
Choubey was on a visit to Pakyong airport on Thursday in preparation of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 23 for formal inauguration of the airport. The secretary has also asked for landing base for at least five helicopters and completion of sundry other formalities like decorations and placement of the inauguration plaque. After inaugurating the airport, the Prime Minister would address a public rally at the St Xavier’s School ground.
Choubey, accompanied by DIG Special Protection Group Suryakant Sharma, also inspected the school ground where the public meeting would be hosted. Directions for stage, dais plan and security arrangements were given, as well as placement of LCD screens on both sides of the ground.  Sikkim Chief Secretary A. K. Srivastava was present.
