District-level science seminars in schools

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) organized district level science seminars for secondary level students of north, west and south districts on August 21 in collaboration with district HRDD office of the respective districts, said an IPR release issued on Saturday. The topic of the seminar was “Industrial Revolution: Are we prepared?”  The objective of the seminar was to develop inquisitiveness, scientific enquiry and scientific temper among secondary level students of government schools.
The district level seminar for north district was held at Mangan Sr. Sec. School.  Mangan Sr Sec School, Mangshila Sr Sec School and Singhik Sec. School secured the first, second and third position respectively. The seminar for south district was held at Namchi Girls Senior Secondary School. Sadam Sr Sec School, Lingmoo Sr Sec School and VCGL Sr Sec School, Ravongla were adjudged as three best schools in order of Merit. The seminar for West district was held at Pelling Sr Sec School in which K B Limboo Sr Sec School Sribadam, Pakkigaon Sec School and kripasalyan Sr Sec School Daramdin bagged first, second and third position respectively. The seminar for east district was held on August 24 at SCERT, Lower Burtuk.  Tadong Sr. Sec School, Namcheybong Sr. Sec School and Rangpo Sr. Sec School bagged the first, second and third position respectively.
These top three schools selected from each of the four districts will compete at the state level on September 7 at SCERT, Gangtok, while the best speaker of the state level seminar will represent the state at the national science seminar scheduled to be held on October 5 at Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum Bangaluru.
