Football Players Association of Sikkim (FPAS) today held a meeting at Paljor Stadium here to deliberate on the  increasing the activities of the organisation.
The meeting was attended by FPAS president Nirmal Chettri, executives Nim Tshering Lepcha, Sanju Pradhan, Mayal Dok Lepcha and members of the association.
At the outset, the FPAS president reiterated the aims and objectives of the FPAS earlier this July. He said that the FPAS is ‘for and by’ the footballers of Sikkim and strives to work for the welfare and betterment of the local players. He also stressed on the organisation to be active and include more footballers through membership drive.
The meeting, based on the inputs from the members present, decided to focus on membership drive so that most of the footballers, both present and former including women footballers, are made part of the FPAS family. The existing members would be reaching out to the footballers and seek their participation as members in the FPAS.
Another important agenda in today’s meeting was registration of the FPAS with the Sikkim government. It was decided that the association will move for documentation and seek registration with the government within one and half months.
The urgency to register the FPAS was to execute the programmes lined up for the betterment and welfare of the Sikkimese footballers in a transparent, organised manner. Among the activities lined up include hosting the annual Indian football awards function of Football Players Association of India (FPAI) in Gangtok next April-May.
The FPAS and FPAI are holding discussions on possibility of hosting the prestigious FPAI award function in Gangtok. This matter was discussed during the meeting today with the members also keen in having the FPAI award function in Gangtok. The FPAS would be further communicating with the FPAI regarding the award function and explore the way forward.
