Functioning of Centre for Adventure and Eco-tourism under scrutiny

The functioning of the Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco-Tourism (IHCAE) came under scrutiny on Thursday at the 13th board meeting of the managing committee of the Centre at IHCAE complex, Chemchey. The meeting was chaired by Sikkim Toursm Minister Ugen Gyatso Bhutia who is also chairman IHCAE.
The Minister suggested that the IHCAE should focus on generating revenues and aim to be a model institute. He laid emphasis that the IHCAE committee should run the institute effectively and in a systematic manner. He also took stock of the progress and the various activities undertaken by IHCAE.
Chief administrator of IHCAE Colonel D. N. Bhutia said the objective of n IHCAE was to assist the adventure tourist enthusiast to experience the unexplored nature in Sikkim. He put forward the requirement of repair and maintenance of the trekkers’ huts at Sikkip and Damthang as early as possible.
Additional Chief Secretary S. C. Gupta said IHCAE should have a registration process so that it could be guided by the rules and regulations of the State Government.
