Ghatani asks for early completion of Sichey 1,000-bed hospital

Sikkim Health Care Minister Arjun Kumar Ghatani on Monday visited the 1000-bed Multi Speciality Hospital at Sichey, today. He was accompanied by Health Commissioner Vishal Chauhan, Principal Director Dr Pempa T Bhutia and Medical Superintendent STNM Hospital Dr KB Gurung and officials from Buildings and Housing Department. The Minister led the inspection minutely to each and every ward along with the concerned heads of the departments and took stock of finishing the pending works so that the STNM Hospital could be shifted there at the earliest, said an IPR release.
The day-long inspection visit began from the Super Speciality Wards at the top floor followed by the AHU Central Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Operation Theatre of ENT, Eye, Ortho and general surgery in the seventh floor. Thereafter, the team led by the Minister thoroughly inspected the upcoming Labour Room, pre- and post-operative areas of gynaecology department and different sections included in the paediatric department. The Minister discussed with the Secretary, concerned HoDs and  Project director of the Multi Speciality Hospital S. Bhattacharya on technical aspects and asked for complete finishing of the requirements at the earliest. Minister also urged HoDs to take care of their concerned departments to ensure early completion of their respective wards.
Afterwards, the Minister and the rest of the team visited Department of Medicine, ENT, Nephrology, Chest and Respiratory, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Dental, Cardiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Bio-Chemistry, Histopathology, Blood Bank, and Ophthalmology wards, the Central Sterile Services Department, deluxe cabins, special cabins and the oxygen supply centre where required work and the present scenario were noted.
Later, the Minister chaired a brief session with all officials and stressed upon completion of the hospital within the stipulated time to avoid any delay in inauguration. He also asked HoDs to submit additional requirements of their respective departments before the authorities so that all essentialities for the shifting of the STNM Hospital were prepared beforehand.
