Ghatani’s surprise visit to Rinchenpong PHC

In a surprise visit to Rinchenpong Primary Helath Centre on Thursday, Sikkim Health Care Minister Arjun Ghatani inspected every ward and section of the PHC, interacted with patients and inquired from them about if their health was improving and what kind of facilities they were getting at the health centre. He asked Medical Officer Dr. Bandana Thapa and health professionals to deliver impeccable service to the patients with dedication and accountability. The Minister took stock of the functioning of equipment, availability of medicines, and the existing manpower position.
Regarding accomplishment of first phase of the HPV vaccination programme, the Medical Officer informed that a total of 758 beneficiaries  from 44 schools under its jurisdiction have been administered HPV vaccine. This covered all the students in the target group.  HPV vaccination is an initiative taken up by the Sikkim Government as a protection against cervical cancer. Two staff nurse have recently joined the health centre to fulfill requirement of manpower, she informed.
The Minister asked health workers to continue with the Chief Minister`s Comprehensive Annual and Total Check-up for Healthy Sikkim (CATCH) programme at people's door steps and encouraged them for the implementation of Indradhanush programme. Ghatani also instructed concerned officials to carry out inspection of the PHC for immediate repair of the rooftop of the building and the staff quarter. (EOIC)
