Governor’s Gold Cup in Sikkim kicked off

The 38th edition of All India Governors Gold Cup International Football Tournament was kicked off on Tuesday at Paljor Stadium. The final match of the game will be played on November 3.
A total number of 12 teams are fighting it out to lift the coveted trophy. To give exposure to the local Sikkimese club, SFA has provided the platform to the top two teams of the Sikkim Premier League 2018 to feature in the Gold Cup.
Accordingly, United Sikkim SC and the Sikkim Aakraman FC will be fielding their teams this time. Army (Red) team who lifted the Independence Day Football Tournament for Chogyal Sir Tashi Namgyal Memorial Cup 2018 has also got entry in this Gold Cup, saidShyam Pradhan, Vice president of Sikkim Football Association.
During the day the first match was played between the Aryans Club and United Sikkim in which later won the match by four goals against Aryans Club, Kolkota. On Wednesday team Geroge Telegraph will play against APF Nepal.
