Move to turn Gangtok into a smart city

Sikkim Urban Development and Housing Minister N. K. Subba along with Gangtok Municipal Corporation Commissioner Tshewang Gyachho  and a civic team on Tuesday took a walk down to the streets of Gangtok town to examine how to incorporate the smart city features in the State capital as it has been listed as the second smart city in Sikkim after Namchi South Sikkim.
The team visited different coroners of town and planned various new features for it. The Minister along with the team started their tour of the town from Zero Point and later encircled the town with multiple stops at various junction points.
During the visit the Minister informed that integrated multi-modal transport, creation and preservation of open spaces, and waste and traffic management measures would be introduced. The focus of the project is either on a particular area of the city or the entire city. “Within month we will come up with the plan and after that we will start our work,” he informed.
