Member of Parliament, Sikkim, P.D. Rai (Lok Sabha) called on Union Minister for Surface Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday in New Delhi. He apprised the Minister of the poor state of the strategic National Highway 10 connecting Siliguri to Gangtok. He urged that the Union Minister that the portion of the highway between Rangpo and Gangtok, currently being managed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation, be taken up immediately for repair and upgrading.
He also requested the Minister to talk to the West Bengal government to keep the N.H.10 highway portion which lies in West Bengal in a better condition.
Gadkari patiently listened to the issues raised by the MP and assured him that Executive Director of NHIDCL Rahul Gupta would get back to him in two weeks with possible solutions.
