A large number of candidates for posts of staff nurses who were not included in the final list on Friday morning went to the official residence of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at Mintokgang demanding a fair treatment. The entire process of selection of 261 staff nurses was done by the Sikkim Public Service Commission.
“We are working in the nursing field for the last many years, some on ad hoc basis and some in the muster roll. We were hopeful that this time we would be absorbed in the created posts, but it did not happen and new candidates are directly inducted,” one aggrieved candidate said. “Nursing is a completely practical post. We had the experience but we were not selected.”
They wanted to meet the Chief Minister with their grievances and request for absorption in the posts of nurses in the government sector, if not now then in the future.
