Organic farming now a subject of debating competition too

26 Aug 2018

From being a practice in the farms and fields, organic farming has now become the favourite topic of debating societies. Like in all debates, there are arguments for as well as against; but those in favour of organic farming seem to be carrying the day.
The Sikkim State Legal Service Authority on Saturday held a debating competition on the subject: “Whether farmers should adopt organic farming or continue with conventional method of farming.” Students from classes VIII to XII ofm the Legal Literacy Clubs of eight schools participated in the debate. Eight students each spoke in favour of organic farming and conventional farming. Predictably, arguments in favour of organic farming carried the day as the first two positions were secured by students who spoke in favour of the motion while the third position was secured by a student who spoke against the motion.
