With the Assembly as well as Lok Sabha election just six months away in the tiny Himalayan state of Sikkim, political parties are chalking out different strategies to reach out to the masses.
The Namthang unit of the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front on Sunday organized a bike rally in which hundreds of members of SDF in Namthang joined. People from different panchayat wards of Namthang constituency also participated in the rally. It was a part of the 2019 general election campaign.
The rally was also a strength showcased against opposition party Sikkim Krantikari Morcha. In the last election Namthang had witnessed violent incidents and clashes between supporters of SDF and SKM.
“The rally can be seen as a show of strength as well as a means of communication with our party members, SDF publicity secretary Prashant Chhetri said. “During the last general election also the opposition had said they would win, this year also they are saying the same and the result in the coming election will also be the same,” legislator of the area Tilu Gurung said.
