SDF gears up for the 2019 poll

Keeping in  view the 2019 Assembly and Lok Sabha election Sikkim Democratic Front has constituted the Development and Campaigning committee which will be responsible for election campaign.
This was revealed by D B Thapa, Senior Vice President of SDF who briefed  the media about the developments today. ``The development committee will be responsible for disseminating the messages on development programmes and policies of the SDF government at village level while the campaigning committee will be responsible for conducting  election campaigning,'' Thapa  said. He also said that the  recent resignation of the two vice presidents from the party has not done any damages to the party..
The senioe party functionary also said that the committee will be also responsible for distributing door stickers, CM greeting cards, party calendars etc. The team will also conduct door to door campaign in various administrative levels from Gram panchayats to district levels.
Today as many 25 members from opposition Sikkim Krantikari Morcha have  joined the ruling SDF at its headquarters.
He also announced  that the state Janta Mela series would be held from 15 January 2019. The Janta Mela is state government's flagship programme to provide facilities to the people. The Rural Development and other departments distribute various government benefits including housing schemes to the beneficiaries during the Janta Melas.
After the state capital the Mela will be held at different venues such as Rabongla, Namchi, Jorethang and Yangyang in south district; Soreng, Dentam, Geyzing and Yuksam in west district; Rangpo, Rongli, Pakyong and Gangtok in east district, and Kabi, Mangan and Chungthang in north district.
Chief Minister Rural Housing Mission ( CMHRM) will also be available to the beneficiaries – 100 CMRHM houses in each constituency. Each CMRHM unit costs Rs. 12 lakh.
Apart from that house upgradation schemes consisting of Rs. 30,000 as grants would be distributed to the beneficiaries. The first instalment of Rs. 15,000 would be given to the beneficiaries in the first phase.  The government is targeting to give house upgradation scheme to 1,500 houses in each constituency, according to the official.
He also informed that SDF in order to reach out to the masses had already organised various rallies like bike, umbrella and health camp. He also said that they were confident that they will form the government for the 6th term next year.
