Sikkim – Bengal to work together for peace in Darjeeling: Chamling

In an interaction with members of Kolkata Press Club who are on a study tour to Sikkim, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling said on Monday that he had spoken toWest Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on more than one occasion and the two had decided to maintain peace in the hills of Darjeeling. Chamling was responding to questions from Kolkata-based journalists on Sikkim – West Bengal relations in the context of a separate statehood demand in the Darjeeling hills, said an IPR release.
The two states had agreed to share the resources of each other in law and order and also in other sectors like tourism and industry to ensure that Darjeeling prospered, Chamling said. The Chief Minister said he had always indulged in positive politics with a one-point commitment to serve the people of Sikkim. (EOIC)
