Sikkim's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R Telang on Wednesday directed all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to carry out 100 per cent house to house verification of voters of the state.
He issued the specific direction to all BLOs at meeting through video conference with all District Election Officers (DEO) to review the progress on activities of summary revision of electoral roll of the state.
The house to house verification by BLOs must be carried out at 100 per cent to ensure inclusion of all voters including the Divyangs, Telang said. The CEO also directed DEOs for 100 per cent verification of polling stations and rationalisation of polling stations by July 31,2018 as per the Election Commission of India's schedule.
All DEOs must submit their respective District Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Action Plan and come up with innovative awareness programmes involving the young voters, he said.
The college admission time may be utilised for generating awareness among the college goers for electoral literacy, the CEO added. Sikkim has more than four lakh registered voters. PTI
