SKM chief visits North Sikkim

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party supremo P.S. Golay today made a visit to Lachen in North Sikkim. He was accompanied by party's acting President and MLA Kunga Nima Lepcha, Chief Coordinator and MLA Ven. Sonam Lama, Secretary General Arun Upreti and party's senior executives and members of North District.
It was his second visit to Lachen. On the way he was accorded warm welcome at Mangshila, Mangan, Pegong by party supporters. His last stop was Lachen Monastery where he attended Ningyma Chamm, an annual ritual. This auspicious ritual is held at the beginning of the year for the well being of entire universe and seeking divine blessings for coming year. This is one of the major religious and social events of the valley where entire residents of Lachen as well as surrounding areas gather to witness the  event. The five-day ritual includes two days of Chamm (sacred dance) and today was the concluding day of the divinely Chamm.
Golay who was specially invited by the local organisers to attend this holy event. expressed his happiness over the hospitality accorded to him by the people of Lachen.
"Today's visit was purely for spiritual purpose and is not aimed at reaping any political dividends.  North Sikkim has huge potential of eco-tourism , nature tourism , religious tourism and adventure tourism which need to be taken care of with ultimate priority. There are many infrastructural developments which need to be developed. If  SKM comes to power it will give top priority on development of North Sikkim."; he said.
