BIMS Kolkata hosts ‘Natl Conference on Global Self Sufficiency’

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science, Kolkata (BIMS) today inaugurated ‘National Conference on the Global Strategy for Self Sufficiency’ in association with the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS).
The focus of the two day Conference being held on 23rd – 24th March, 2018 is to discuss how Self-sufficiency is necessary for the growth of a country and its economy and bring out solutions on different strategies on how self-sufficiency can be attained in different fields and bring together academicians, research scholars, corporates, industry experts and students on a common platform to discuss and exchange views on various issues of self-sufficiency globally and strategy thereof.
The Conference was inaugurated by Dr. Saikat Maitra (Vice Chancellor, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology), Rev. Dr. J. Felix Raj S.J. (Vice Chancellor, St. Xavier’s University), Dr. R.C. Bhattacharya (Chairman, Association of Indian Management Schools - AIMS, West Bengal Chapter), along with Justice Chittatosh Mookerjee (Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kolkata Kendra), Prasun Mukherjee (Executive Vice Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kolkata), Dr. G.V. Subramanian(Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan), Dr. R. K. Patra (Principal, BIMS) among others.
In his inaugural address at the conference Dr. R. K. Patra, Principal, BIMS said, “Becoming self-sufficient in various areas such as food and food production, agriculture, Green Movement – protection of forests, protection of flora and fauna, protection to indigenous populations living in harmony with the environment, conservation of energy, self- sufficiency in knowledge, technology, research, & development ,healthcare, infrastructure, etc. is the need of the hour for economic development in developing countries.”
Dr. Felix elaborated on the importance of self-sufficiency in every aspect and congratulated Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science (BIMS) for organizing the conference on such an appropriate topic.
During the two-days of the conference, different technical sessions are being held that discuss various strategies of attaining self- sufficiency. On the Day 1, sessions were held on various tracks like- Marketing, Human Resource Management, Supply Chain Management and Achieving self-sufficiency, women empowerment & sustainability issues and Plenary Sessions where eminent academicians and corporates like Dr. K B L Srivastava, IIT, Khargpur, Dr. Goutam Dutta, IIFT, Dr. EVR Raju, Coal India Ltd., Dr. Shantanu Roy, Dr. Amal Gupta kept their views on the theme and sub themes.
