CESC takes quick action to douse fire at South Kolkata

The Sunday mid night fire in South Kolkata ravaged a multi storey building on 161/A Rashbehari Avenue under Gariahat police station throughout the night and damaged several shops. According to CESC sources their engineers on receipt of the information around 1:20 am arrived on the spot within 20 minutes and as precautionary measure disconnected power supply in consultation with fire brigade, police and other authorities. A night long vigil was kept by the CESC team to provide every assistance to fire fighters and restore supply of electricity whenever advisable. The fire was brought under control on Sunday afternoon around 12:15 pm and the supply in the area was restored at 1:20 pm. According to the CESC sources the cause of the fire is under investigation and the power supply to the affected building will be restored after fire brigade, police and clearances from Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
