CESC's special arrangement for examination season

21 Feb 2017

To ensure uninterrupted power supply to residences and exam centres during the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary exams from February to April, special arrangements are being made by CESC.
Avijit Ghosh, CESC vice president-distribution services said today: “Five major exams, including Madhyamik and Higher Secondary, are scheduled during this period and we do not foresee any shortage of supply, although demand is likely to go up – 1615 mw this month and 1785 in March.  We are ready to meet the rise in demand and ensure uninterrupted supply.” To avoid interruption, amongst the steps taken by CESC are replacement of old distribution boxes with modern ones and systematic maintenance of overhead lines.
CESC has also undertaken condition monitoring of plants and equipment and their preventive maintenance. “CESC is also expanding its power-on-wheel arrangement to ensure emergency relief in any affected area.  Usually, we have eight such power units on wheel, but additional stand-by mobile generators will be located in different areas to rush to the affected site, if necessary”, Ghosh said.
