CID conducts raids at former SP Bharati Ghosh’s two houses

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the state police today conducted raids at the two houses of former West Midnapore district police superintendent Bharati Ghosh as well as in the houses of police officials close to her during her tenure. Ghosh, who was a favourite official of chief minister Mamata Banerjee but later fell out with her was transferred to the Third Batallion of the State Armed Police at Barrackpore in December 25 last year. She resigned and the resignation was accepted by the state administration. The CID has conducted the raids at the houses of Ghosh at Naktala and Mukundapur on allegations of having property disproportionate to her income. Raids were also conducted at the houses of officer in charge of Belda police station in West Midnapore district and Sukumar Dey, circle inspector of Mahishadal in East Midnapore district. Both have been `closed" (removed from post).
