Dum Dum municipality extends financial aid to needy people

Dum Dum Municipality today initiated a project for giving financial assistance to needy people today. MLA of Dum Dum and state Information Technology minister Bratya Basu set the ball rolling at 11.15 am. This project has been duly approved by the Board of Councillors.
Apart from Basu, the programme was attended by chairman of Dum Dum Municipality, Harendra Singh, vice-chairman Barun Natta and councillors and Mayor-in Councils of other boards ander Dum Dum Municipality. Today, Basu handed over age-old pension and widow pension to 86 people who came from all the 22 wards of the Municipality. The minister said a new decision taken by the Centre has made it difficult for the states to provide financial aid to people below the poverty line. But the chief minister wants to provide support to such people and taking inspiration from her, we have designed this scgheme.
Dum Dum Municipality chairman Singh said the civic board will try to extend help to more such needy people. Apart from initiation of the scheme, the guests today also distributed certificates to the trainees of beautician and nursing training courses who have successfully completed training under NULM project.
