ER celebrates ‘World Heritage Day’ at Regional Rail Museum

Eastern Railway celebrated ‘World Heritage Day’ at Regional Rail Museum, Howrah today through a variety of programmes.
There was debate competition, among the school children and cultural programmes concerning to the history and heritage of Indian Railways in general and Eastern Railway in particular. Moreover, joy ride for the school children was also organised as a special attraction. Speaking on the occasion, S N Agrawal, general manager, Eastern and South Eastern Railway said that Regional Rail Museum, Howrah is one of the prides of Eastern Railway. The Museum displays the history of Eastern Railway as a whole, Howrah station and Railways in Eastern India.
It also puts up the pictorial history of East Indian Railway, Eastern Railway, East Central Railway, East Coast Railway, South Eastern Railway, Northeast Frontier Railway, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works and Metro Railway, Kolkata. Agarwal further said that Regional Rail Museum is a place which provides authentic source material to scholars, working with the history of Rail transportation during colonial and post-independence era in particular and economic history in general.

Deevansh Gupta of DPS Ruby Park was awarded with first prize for the debate competition for speaking in favour of the motion, and Tabasum Ansari of ER Hindi High School Liluah and Ishanai Basu of La Martinere came second and third. From the 'Against' squad, Oisika Choudhury of DPS, Ruby Park bagged the first prize, while Rituparna Patnaik and Prachi Dugar ended as second and third. (EOIC)
