ER efforts for better safety in services

Harindra Rao, general manager, Eastern Railway (ER) honoured four ER employees with Safety Awards for their dedicated work in maintaining safety in train operations, in a high level meeting held at ER headquarters on Tuesday.
Siddheswar Guha, technician of mechanical department of Sealdah division while examining a goods train at Naihati yard on December 1, 2017 detected some defect in the coupler of a wagon of a goods train. It was a very critical detection which is almost invisible from apparent look. Such detection of Guha helped in averting a possible incident.
Surendra Prasad and Harendra Prasad Kamkar , track maintainers of Sealdah Division while performing  patrolling of the Railway track between Kanchrapara & Kalyani stations in the morning of December 10, 2017 detected crack on the Up line near Kanchrapara station . They immediately took rectification measure by fixing additional fish plate at the site to ensure safe movement of train.
Umesh Kumar , trackman of Howrah Division while performing  duty on December 6, 2017 detected crack on the Up line between Gurap and Jhapandanga stations of Howrah-Barddhaman Chord Line section . He immediately informed the matter to higher authorities and took rectification measure. His alertness and sincerity prevented a possible untoward incident.
General Manager, ER also held a high level meeting on safety, punctuality and security aspects with the principal head of departments and divisional railway managers through video conference and other senior officers at the Headquarters on Tuesday. (EOIC)
