ER gears up to ensure safety during winter

Shri Harindra Rao, general manager, Eastern Railway (ER) held a high level performance review meeting on 28 November, 2017 wherein safety of passengers prevailed over all other subjects. The meeting was attended by all the Principal heads of Departments (PHODs) and other senior officers of Eastern Railway. In the meeting, Shri Rao, general manager emphasized on elaborate counselling of drivers/assistant drivers of trains and ordered for regular foot-plate (on-board inspection) by Train Inspectors, Loco Inspectors and Permanent Way Inspectors (PWI) to ensure safety during the ongoing winter season.  In the meeting, chief safety officer of Eastern Railway informed that extensive safety drives are already in progress in Eastern Railway which include (i) 30 days Safety Drive being conducted from 31st October to 29 November, 2017 on precaution to be taken during foggy weather and (ii) 20 days Safety Drive from 20 November to 09 December, 2017 to prevent the cases of Signal Passing At Danger.
