Harindra Rao, General Manager (GM), Eastern Railway (ER) held a high level with all the Principal heads of Departments (PHODs) on Wednesday to review the performance of ER in terms of safety, security, punctuality, loading, on-going projects, etc. during the month of December, 2017.
It emerged during the discussion that, in compliance to the instruction issued by GM, utmost importance was accorded to safety aspects in ER. Accordingly, all the gatemen and patrolmen of ER were counseled thoroughly to ensure safety in train movement. Moreover, 17 night inspections were under taken by senior officers of this railway. Consequently, not a single untoward incident took place in ER during the preceding month.
On the punctuality front, it was stated that, despite of severe constraints caused by the prevailing foggy weather, punctuality over ER has been quite satisfactory. GM instructed all the divisional railway managers to take all possible steps to improve the level of punctuality in this Railway.
During the meeting, the GM also instructed all the Principal heads of Departments to ensure fullest utilization of funds allotted under CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) for the financial year 2017-18 by expediting the on-going project works in this Railway.  Rao also stressed upon the need of increasing earning and minimizing working expenditure so as to improve the financial position of ER.
